• The history of one of the oldest pottery forms in the world is as unique as the craft. This ancient art form originally has Turko-Persian roots & was used primarily in architecture in Central Asia. It was, however, the mughals that brought Blue Pottery to India & adapted the techniques to pottery
• The craft is said to have gained immense popularity under the aegis of Sawai Ram Singh and in the 1960s, it got a much needed push from a legend named Kripal Singh Shekhawat, who is known to have revived Blue pottery, earning him the title of the “Father of Blue Pottery” The rest of course is history and this artform today is the prime source of livelihood for several artisans & their families in Rajasthan
